Andrea & Thomas with Galáctica & Narnia

Many people, including – or especially – horse owners, generally believe that they are choosing a horse. They think they are looking for a suitable four-legged equine companion on its own initiative and of their own free will.
But: wrong! With „Pearl-Horses“ it’s exactly the contrary!

You don’t believe me? Well, I’ll prove it to you with the history of our horses (those of my dear wife Andrea and me) and especially with the example of Narnia.

Our first horse passed away in 2011 and a new horseless time began. Although we agreed that we definitely wanted a horse again, our search was not very successful. We visited and tested some very neat animals – but there was none that “appealed to” us. None said: it’s you – take me with you, be there for me!

In 2015 it happened for the second time that a horse decided to “choose” us. After Andrea met Leonie in 2013 (that’s a story of its own, which will not be discussed here), she attended the mares presentation at La Perla in 2014. Andrea will better tell you the details herself:

I already knew many great La Perla horses before GALÁCTICA (born 2011, Xinfrim & Alteza da Cevera) conquered my heart. In the years 2013 to 2016 I spent several times for longer periods as an intern and course participant with Leonie on La Perla.
In 2015 I noticed Galáctica. She was standing on the paddocks with some mares and I immediately felt a special connection. At this point, however, Galáctica had been promised to another interested person. A few months later, Leonie told me that this prospect was not buying and that a horse transporter would soon be on its way from Spain. Then everything went very fast. Pre-purchase exam, contract processing – two weeks later Galáctica was there!

Galáctica was broken in on La Perla. Since I already knew how professionally work the horses and how they grow up, my husband and I bought this wonderful mare without additional training – I had only seen her running free once and led her. My trust in the work of Leonie and her team was confirmed – and is still every day. Galáctica is very reliable, people-oriented, self-confident, noble – and bred so well that it reacts to the finest rider’s help … and of course beautiful.

And then the year 2019 came, which provided the final proof that horses choose “their” people. Leonie held her first horse auction on La Perla on September 13th and 14th the same year. Some horses said “hello”, but none of them decided to “choose” us. The day after the event, in the morning shortly before departure, in order to not miss the flight home in the afternoon, we asked Leonie if we could visit Alteza da Cevera, the mother of Galáctica, at one of the pastures with the mother mares, foals and follies. What happened then – on that memorable September 15, 2019 – deserves a detailed description:

NARNIA (born 2017, Gavilán & Salvada) is currently (as of February 2021) still rearing at the stud. In the meantime, Narnia is lunged and just started to be broken in and we are very grateful for the ongoing reporting on Narnia’s learning progress. Leonie is also super customer-oriented and attentive.
