When I went to La Perla for a 3-month internship in 2019, I already had quite firm goals for the time afterwards. Limonero (born in 2015) was ill at that time and my tasks as an intern included looking after him.
After the internship, I planed a trip around the world and wanted to put “horses” on hold for a period of time. Theoretically…..And theoretically, I didn’t have the financial background to buy a horse.
Well, practically, I put my trip around the world on hold and worked hard in order to be able to call this little black horse my own. That’s how Limonero came to me to Germany in November 2019.
He did and still does a great job with all of that. Limonero is also super manageable as a stallion. There are mares in his neighbour’s paddock, he eats nose to nose with a mare from a bowl and I can take him out for a ride together with my Icelandic mare.
Limonero has been under saddle for almost a year now and is developing wonderfully. I never regretted one second that I changed my travel plans for him. Despite his natural wildness and his urge to be free, which he should always keep, he is super sensitive and above all his obedience is available at any time. I love that very much about him.
UPDATE January 2023
Since October 2021, Limonero and I are back at La Perla, where I currently work as a rider.
