The Lusitano stud Yeguada La Perla is located in Spain about 130 km northwest of Madrid. For a visit it is advisable to fly to Madrid and then to rent a car. The drive from Madrid to La Perla in itself is breathtaking. It leads over a mountain range and behind every corner, a great view awaits. La Perla is situated on a plateau at an altitude of 1200 m. Regardless of the time of year and the weather, the landscape is breathtakingly beautiful. In spring and early summer the meadows abound with colorful flowers. Purple lavender is particularly abundant. The weather can change quickly; it might rain one moment and then suddenly the cloud cover over the mountains can tear open, bathing the plain in magical light. The quality of the light seems to be much warmer and softer.
The horse breeding stud Yeguada La Perlas has a great reputation all throughout Europe. The horses grow up in herds on huge pastures, are trained compassionately and horse-friendly from the age of 4 years. Leonie Bühlmann and her team tangibly love every one of their horses. We could write a whole novel to describe the experience, but words will never be able to convey the magic of La Perla. For this reason, we have posted a video for you here, which was created by Sina Eberhardt from Edition Boiselle.
